mission statement

“To unleash the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in the world.”

Drawing from the richness of our Catholic heritage, we seek to teach, equip, and activate disciples to demonstrate the love of God through the power of the Holy Spirit in their spheres of influence.

History & overview

Founded in 2016

Founded in 2016 by Fr. Mathias Thelen & Patrick Reis after profound experiences with Christ in the Eucharist, Encounter Ministries has spread globally. We exist to unleash the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in the world through teaching, equipping, and activating disciples to demonstrate the love of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Episcopal & Theological Advisory Boards

The purpose of the Episcopal & Theological Advisory Boards is to advise Encounter Ministries on doctrinal issues related to the teachings,  assist with formulating theological responses to any theological questions, and advise on pastoral and ecclesial issues so that Encounter Ministries remains deeply rooted in the Church and more effectively fulfils its mission.  Since Encounter Ministries  is firmly committed to Catholic orthodoxy, the constructive feedback and theological contributions of the board also serve to improve the theological clarity of the teaching of Encounter Ministries to preserve it from error.

core values

personal Transformation

Acknowledging that the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to conform us closer to the image of Jesus in our personal lives is first and most important.

spirit-led boldness

Responding in obedience to the Holy Spirit to make Jesus known to the world around us.

prophetic encouragement

Seeing those around us through the eyes of Jesus and communicating that reality to build them up in Jesus.

faith

authentically catholic

Our ESM curriculum is reviewed by a team of theologians and bishops to ensure is free from moral and doctrinal error. We humbly submit to and respect the apostolic authority of our bishop(s) and attempt to address conflict with humility, charity and faith-based reasoning.

ecumenical friendships

The Church calls Catholics to engage other Christians in dialogue, cooperation, and prayer (Unitatis Redintegratio 4). We serve this mission by fostering unity among all who confess Jesus Christ, and participate in His desire “that they all be one” (John 17:21) while ensuring all collaboration honors and protects the theological and doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church.

traditional is charismatic

We desire to see the Church  burn with the apostolic and evangelistic zeal found in the early Church, along with love, honor, and reverence for our sacred traditions and holy obedience to apostolic authority.

presenters

Weekend Schools & Healing Services

In addition to our Encounter Ministries staff members and leaders who present at various events, we also have a team of trained speakers who travel the world offering weekend schools, including the School of Healing, School of Identity, School of Prophetic Ministry and School of Divine Intimacy. New presenters are added to our team annually, and are generally ESM Directors and facilitators who have shown unique zeal and anointing in presenting Encounter Ministries content.
