THE ENCOUNTER SCHOOL OF MINISTRY

SUPERNATURAL – TRANSFORMATIVE

``whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father.`` (Jn 14:12)

Mission
Drawing from the richness of our Catholic heritage and identity, we seek to teach, equip, activate and deploy disciples to be able to demonstrate the supernatural power and love of the kingdom of God in their spheres of influence.
Environment
Each class starts off with worship and/or testimonies. God is our focus, and we love to worship Him and be in His presence! In teaching and activating, the Encounter School uses a hands-on approach. Expect out-of-class assignments designed to help you implement what you have learned. Each session will show how to minister in a way that shows love and value and serves those whom we come in contact with everyday.
Culture
Our core values at the Encounter School are driven by creating a culture of honor that is defined by freedom, empowerment, respect, healthy boundaries, and docility. There is a high level of student interaction through activations, prayer and transformation group activities, and as a result a high expectation for honor to be practiced regularly. It is the culture where empowered lifestyles are sustained, encouraged and empowered!

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Encounter School is a 2 year school of ministry with classes once a week on Monday evenings from 6pm – 9:00pm at the Damascus Mission Campus.  Apart from an atmosphere of faith and worship, the goal is to activate the gifts and tools necessary for ministry and to provide a safe environment to grow.  Each year is broken up into 4 quarters covering topics essential to supernatural ministry.

The tuition is $150 per quarter ($250 for married couples) and covers ALL the expenses of the school including materials, guest speaker expenses, and outside ministry opportunities.  Books, retreats and Mission Trips cost extra.

Everyone who graduates will receive a Certificate of Ministry Diploma.  We are currently working with Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit on an agreement that this certificate would be in official partnership with them due to their professors oversight on the curriculum and guest teaching,

In order to graduate and receive the Certificate of Ministry, the following outcomes must be achieved:

  1. Completion of all 8 quarters (attendance of 6 out 8 classes + completion of all assigned homework).
  2. Completing a Ministry Project (outlined in your second year).

Each quarter consists of 8 classes.  Completion of each quarter for credit requires attendance at 6 our of the 8 classes and completion of assigned homework (this is very minimal).  Homework is designed to put the ministry that you learn into practice in your daily life.

Q1 – Identity and Transformation (Sept/Oct 2017)

Q2 – Hearing God and the Prophetic Gifts (Nov/Dec 2017)

Q3 – Power and Healing (Jan/Feb/Mar 2018)

Q4 – Inner Healing and Freedom (Mar/Apr/May 2018)

Q5 – Intimacy with God (Sept/Oct 2018)

Q6 – Supernatural Evangelization and Discipleship (Nov/Dec 2018)

Q7 – Advanced Ministry Training (Jan/Feb/Mar 2019)

Q8 – Empowered Leadership and Deployment (Mar/Apr/May 2019)

The school will not be recording and sending out audio or video recordings of the class.  It is the responsibility of each student to make arrangements.  Most students will use their smart phone to record talks for friends who miss.

A typical class in the first year generally looks like this:

6:00 Worship, prayer and testimonies

6:30 first teaching

7:10 large group activation

7:20 break

7:30 second teaching

8:10 large group activation

8:20 transformation groups (testimonies, discussion, life application, more activation time, closing prayer and worship – will vary with topic)

9:00 go home

The School of Ministry will allow a visit to attend one class.  They must sign in at the registration table and receive a visitors pass.

Snapshots of the School in Action

The Encounter School of Ministry rents the Damascus Catholic Mission Campus as the home of the Encounter School and provides both a state of the art ministry space that is saturated in the presence of God.  Expect an environment that is inter-generational with students ranging from young adults to seniors.  Be ready for an environment of worship in the presence of God, transformative teaching, risk-taking activations and a community that feels like a family.  We seek to celebrate and honor what God is doing through testimonies of his work in our life and above all seek to build an atmosphere of faith that is responsive to the presence of God…which is the key to all fruitful ministry.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

my speech and my message were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and power, that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Saint Paul 1 Corinthians 2:4-5
